In Clyde Hill, an existing house was torn down and a new custom home was built in its place. The walls are stone and Hardie panel over a rainscreen system, the roofs are standing-seam metal, and tall windows give it a clean, modern profile. Warm wood soffits and a red front door keep it from feeling cold.
The backyard was planned like a second living room: a covered deck off the main floor, a wide lawn, a fire pit, and a pond crossed by a small footbridge. Out front, a gated drive opens onto a concrete motor court and a garage with a glass-panel door.
